Coleman/Franken to Run Again

Due to the protracted nature of the contention of the last election results, both campaigns have agreed to decide the outcome of the last election with the outcome of the next election in 2010. Sources close to both camps indicate they have decided litigation concerning the 2008 election could last until 2012. So rather than prolong the agony, Norm Coleman and Al Franken will run again in 2010. According to the Governor's office, the citizens of Minnesota have noticed very little difference between having two Senators represent them and having one Senator represent them . So rather than appoint a temporary Senator, Governor Tim Pawlenty has decided to let Senator Amy Klobuchar do the work of two Senators (a part time job). The Governor also pointed out the benefit to the Federal Treasury not having to borrow the money to pay two senatorial salaries and suggested the savings be used to build a bridge somewhere.

Just finished reading a book by a pretty astute political observer-he must have been reading this blog:

"What we hear instead, not only in campaigns but on editorial pages,on bookstands,or in the ever-expanding BLOG universe, are deflections of criticism and assignment of blame. Depending on your tastes, our condition is the natural result of radical conservatism or perverse liberalism, Tom DeLay or Nancy Pelosi, big oil or greedy trial lawyers, religious zealots or gay acivists, Fox News or the New York Times..... the explanations of both the right and the left have become mirror images of each other...they are stories of conspiracy, of America being hijacked by an evil cabal...their purpose is not to persuade the other side but to keep their bases agitated and assured of the rightness of their respective causes-and lure just enough new adherents to beat the other side into submission."

Conservative author or liberal? You may be surprised..

Sounds like some common sense coming out of the land of lakes for a change. (Thanks to Pawlenty) I think every state should lay off at least one senator.

To be honest I had forgotten about that election or figured it must have gotten resolved by now and I missed it. That's incredible that no outcome has been decided. Sounds like a good decision by the Gov - forgetaboutit. 2010 should be a fun time up there....

Actually, to be honest, I made the whole thing up. The two campaigns have agreed to nothing but further litigation and Pawlenty has made no comment. However, I will say Minnesotans have noticed no difference in the quality of representation with one Senator compared to two.

Vance, you left the same comment on my "Let the outsourcing begin." post. Am I supposed to guess who the author is? Okay, I will. George W. Bush.

Wrong! Gotcha! :-) You don't actually think Bush could string that many thoughts together by himself, do you? Besides, the comments are way too common sense and mainstream. The author is none other than your current El Supreme Leader, source of many sleepless nights for the right,
the radical liberal, B. Obama!! But, I think you already knew that.., I enjoyed your "Onion" post on the Franken/Coleman post-you reeled in a few fish on that one. As Stuart Smalley(SNL) said, "I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and doggone it, people like me!"(and now I'm gonna be your Senator!). I would love to be a fly on the wall when Al takes his first elevator ride in the Senate with Sen.John Cornyn(TX)!!

No, I got you. I knew it was Obama, saying all the things he needed to say to get elected. I figured you wouldn't waste an opportunity to bash Bush and I was right. : )

Actually, Bush is looking pretty good lately compared to Darth Vader-Cheney. Ultimately, Bush will take the blame for all the screwups of the last eight years, but I am starting to wonder just how much of it was bad advice amd going behind his back from the various minions below him. It makes it all pretty obvious that Obama and his administration are operating on a whole different level(as in better) than the Bushies.

REALLY??!! I'm just not seeing anything Obama is doing any differently than Bush, especially when it comes to the economy, except making a not good situation into a horrendous one, especially for our kids. In terms of foreign policy, he got nothing from his trip to the G20 summit. He got nothing from his trip to Turkey. (The Muslim world received an apology.) And he got nothing from his trip to Baghdad, except cheers from the 500 troops he addressed when he said he'll get them home ASAP. Who wouldn't cheer THAT? Meanwhile, Korea is firing missiles, Osama is STILL at large, Iran is threatening to execute an American while continuing to develop nuclear weapons, Israel is pissed at him, and our defense budget is being cut while our taxes are going up. Other than that, everything's hunky dorry. Must be all that excellent, intellectual advice he's getting from that genius, Joe (Stand up, Chuck!) Biden. By the way, Joe, what's the website again?

Defense budget being cut?? An increase of 4% over last year's-fact. Just another inaccurate RNC talking point.

Brodad Unkabuddy said...

In Democratise, if the increase is "not as much" as it originally was, it's a cut. Or has their language changed now that the messiah has taken over?

vwatt said...

There was no "original" defense budget increase....many numbers were floated around, and the final DOD budget number represented a 4% increase over that of Bush's last DOD budget. Of course, many Southern Republicans are upset that unneeded weapon system cuts will cost jobs in their states-but, hey, wait!!- didn't they all say recently they don't want any Government stimulus money? And it came to pass...the Messiah has spoken..
