Greetings from Asia!

This is a great video. The guy's courage was amazing. Yesterday, we (the copilot and myself) walked down Tiananmen Square in addition to touring the Forbidden City. The immensity of it all was amazing. It's the largest public square in the world. I won't bore you with dimensions, etc, but I will say it's huge. Everything about Beijing is huge. We walked all over yesterday and felt very safe even though at times it seemed like there was no other "round eyes" in the city. If I didn't know better I would have thought the People's Republic of China was just that - a republic with capitalism as it's economic system. There were shopping malls everywhere. Largely in part to the Olympics, Beijing has become a bustling westernized city. The people were very friendly, many spoke English, and it seemed most of them wanted to take us to the Great Wall. There was no time this trip, but maybe I'll do it next time. Overall, I was very impressed with the Chinese and can definitely see why, if we're not careful, they WILL own us. I'm back in Tokyo today and tomorrow I'm off to Bangkok. I'll try to post some personal pictures in the near future. I misplaced my camera for a bit, so all the pictures I took in Beijing are on my phone and I don't know how to download them yet. It's been quite an adventure and I'm really enjoying it despite a bit of homesickness. Sometimes I wonder if I should pay them to do this job . .

Great post. Thanks for the update. I was wondering when you would surface.
Very exciting trip!
Definitely a good thing you didn't see the Vikings game. There were times I could have sworn they were throwing the game. I loathe New Orleans and was pulling for Minnesota big time. Go Colts!

Glad to hear you're having a great time! I was hoping your plane wasn't being disassembled

I really enjoyed Beijing and would go back for vacation. Did you go to the Silk Market? Haggling there is fun...and ridiculous.

My copilot went to the Pearl market and did some haggling. One thing good about this job, I'll be back. The markets, Pearl and Silk, are two things I want to do along with the Great Wall.
