What's happening in America

Not since the Civil Rights movement in the 60's have I seen Americans so impassioned. I can't help but think how ironic it is that these passions reach the boiling point under a President who is black. What's happening in town hall meetings across the country is what I've been driving at since Obama's election. As Rahm Emmanuel, the President's Chief of Staff, has stated, there is "opportunity during a crisis". The liberal left in this country has had an agenda to take this government socialist since the days of Woodrow Wilson. They have never had the power to do it until now and sought to take advantage of it immediately. Emmanuel, who I believe is one of the true instigators of this move towards socialism, overestimated the power of Obama. What Obama has done, to his own detriment, has ignited the basic American spirit. The people we're seeing at these town hall meetings are the type of people who gathered in the 18th century concerned about freedom and taxation without representation. Our "representatives" no longer represent us. Obama has lied to us time after time and the American people have awakened to that fact. Woe to elected officials up for reelection in 2010. Whatever advantage the liberals thought they would have will be gone. Obama will be a lame duck after two years of trying to cram socialism down the throats of freedom loving Americans. I'm proud of these modern day Minutemen (and women) at the town hall meetings. They are people of all ages, races, and income levels. And they will not be tread upon.

Well said.

I just wish the GOP would capitalize on it. They have a golden opportunity to contrast themselves with the liberal Democrats now, and they're wasting it.

Maybe it's just that they're not all that different, after all.

Conservatives are waking up. I just hope it's not too late.
