The freshman Senator from Minnesota
Yep, it's true. Al Franken is now the second Senator from Minnesota. The former X rated comedian, SNL player, author of intellectual books such as Rush Limbaugh is a Big Fat Liar, and liberal talk show host has been declared the winner of last fall's US Senate race in Minnesota. Franken makes the former Governor Jesse Ventura seem like a reasonable choice for elective office. Here's how he got elected. Conservative leaning voting districts followed the voting rules and threw out more ballots than liberal voting districts whose rules were a bit more. . . liberal. Coleman sued to get the votes counted that were thrown out in the conservative districts or to at least have some of the same "liberal" rules apply. Nope. Wasn't going to happen. This is the Socialist Soviet Republic of Minnesota. The rules are the rules unless you're voting in a liberal district, then it's "intentions" that count. Oh well, now we'll really get what we voted for with a filibuster-proof Democratic Senate. Or at least we'll know where to place the blame.
