She shoots, she SCORES!

The Democratic Presidential campaign and this moose (elk?) have a lot in common after Governor Palin's speech last night. Those of us who watched her witnessed the birth of a new star in the national political arena. For Sarah to deliver a good speech after the media-led turmoil she and her family have gone through the past 5 days would have been a great accomplishment. However, the governor stood up, faced up to her critics, and delivered what was probably the most effective convention speech ever delivered. I laughed, I teared up, and I cheered. She brought me to my feet in my living room. I imagine I wasn't the only one. As the Dems say, "Game on!"

Overall, I would give her a B+ for the speech. I don't think it will help McCain with Hillary swing voters as she is way too culturally and poliically conservative for anyone who even thought about voting for her-the only thing they have in common with her is a certain chromsosome. She gave her base the red meat they wanted and managed to turn the election back into a God,Gays,& Guns cultural war once again. We'll see if it works for one more election-hopefully for McCain the well is not yet dry as he has rolled the dice. The good news is that she will be a VICE-president under McCain not a CO-President as we have now...Mac will run the country his way which will be a big improvement. Her speech had some good zingers but her delivery came across as shrill, overly sarcastic, and somewhat snippy and amateurish...it reminded me of someone running for student council president in high school, "and if elected I will push for Pepsi instead of Coke in the vending machines, and my opponent "Barry" is the class nerd, and not cool, etc. etc..."

Yeah she was awesome last night... she can definitely hold her own. I was watching it on NBC last night and had to turn it off immediately after her speech so I wouldn't be forced to hear the ridiculous commentary from the mainstream media spinning it their usual twisted way.

C'mon McCain!! You've got about three days to shake things up and bring in Romney or Lieberman in order to give this campaign a chance! Palin is just not going over well with independents or Hillary voters as the article below demonstrates. The whole thing is turning into an episode from a Jerry Springer show: Troopergate with the ex brother-in-law who tasered his 11 year old stepson, Dixiegate with the husband who was a registered member of a secessionist movement from 1994-2002(Alaska Independent Party), and Spearsgate-Britney's pregnant 16 yr. old sister is now sending baby gifts to Palin's 17 yr. old daughter who should not have to be in the political limelight(but I guess it's OK to go onstage with her boyfriend after the speech). Yup, just another mainstream American family!!

Michigan Independents Cold to Alaska Governor

September 04, 2008 9:42 AM

The Detroit Free Press invited a panel of Michigan voters to weigh in on Gov. Sarah Palin's speech last night. Their reactions run the gamut, but the independents didn't seem to care for her very much.

Ilene Beninson, 52, Berkley independent: "Her speech contained few statements about policy or the party platform. … I am not convinced that Palin's experience as a mayor or governor in Alaska meet the qualifications to be vice president much less one stroke or heart attack away from being commander in chief.”

Mike Kosh, 38, West Bloomfield independent: “The way it looks to me, she's the Republican vice presidential nominee for one reason: Because Hillary wasn't selected.”

George Lentz, 66, Southfield independent: “I was completely underwhelmed. She was a Republican novelty act with a sophomoric script. It was not even a speech I would expect for someone running for the local PTA, much less for vice president.”

Diane Murphy, 42, Sterling Heights independent: “It appears that once she makes up her mind, that is the end of it. We live in a gray world, not every answer is black and white.”

Jan Wheelock, 58, Royal Oak independent: “Nothing worked for me. I found her barrage of snide remarks and distortions to be a major turnoff. She is not a class act. The most important point she made is that she will be an effective attack dog.”

That's some pretty weak dirt you've dug up there.

Give me some adultery, lying under oath, impeachment...now we're talking.

Sarah Palin rocks. These attempts to tear her down only make those who try look foolish.

Guns, babies, Jesus, and oil in '08!

A bumper sticker in the making if I ever saw one.
"Guns, Babies, Jesus & Oil"
Bottom line - some people are going to get Palin and some won't. It has to do with the cultural divide in the country. I just pray there are more people on the conservative side of the divide than the socialist side. She did a great job of articulating the differences.

I would never vote for a candidate based on cultural issues but many would and that is certainly their right. Cultural issue debates don't solve the health care crisis, the budget deficit, or the housing crisis, which is why I have voted for both parties over the past 30 years for the candidate I feel is best suited to solve the current national problems. I keep my politcs separate from my religion as per the Constitution. This year we have two candidates I can live with, so again, it's all good!! I need McCain to give me some more reasons(some progressive redmeat) to vote for him, though, because I do really like his independence and personal story. As to digging up dirt, it's all from our "free press" which has managed to somehow survive the last eight years still intact. You won't have to wait long for more dirt-I see the National Enquirer is unfortunately about to do a "John Edwards" on her-to be released next week. Pretty sad for all concerned when things reach this level.

Talking to fellow crewmembers today all I heard was excitement about Sarah and her speech last night. That came from both pilots and flight attendants. All 6 of the flight attendants I worked with today were unanimous in their support of Sarah Pelin. They love her! And Vance, you know what a group of liberals the flight attendants are. These are the gals who were Hillary supporters. So I don't buy the theory that liberal women won't go for Sarah. Sorry you took the same line as Senator Harry (the wimp) Reid did by calling the governor "shrill". Getting a little sexist there aren't you? When was the last time a man was called "shrill"? Gotta be careful there. The BAD news if the Dems win the Presidency is that "Zero" will be the President and Biden will be the Co-President. Now THAT'S scary. As far as the Detroit Free Press article is concerned, that newspaper makes the Star Tribune look like the Limbaugh Letter. Pelin kicked a lot of butt in Alaska, so you will always find people who dislike her. As a supporter of the Clinton years, to compare the Pelins to Jerry Springer is a really cheap shot. Also if the Enquirer digs up an affair with Sarah Pelin, why should that bother the leftists? It's just about sex, right? If they do find something, I'm sure it will be so far in the past that it will be irrevelant because this family obviously has already dealt with it.

Uh, I don't believe it says anywhere in the Constitution that politics and religion should be separate. What it does say is that the government cannot dictate what religion you practice. Obviously, the framers had a strong faith and incorporated their faith in the Declaration of Independence and the Constitution.

You're right Vance, cultural issue debates don't solve the health care crisis (I have an issue with the word "crisis" having just gone through $100,000 worth of medical care) the budget deficit, the housing "crisis" (there you go again) and all the other "crisis." Government doesn't solve them either, obviously. Government gets in the way. I didn't look to the government when I made what turned out to be a bad small business decision and I didn't turn to the government when I have made some good real estate decisions. (Boy did the government want to suck up my hard-earned dollars then) We have now turned out 2 generations who look to step up to the government trough to solve all their problems. (There's a part of the cultural difference) I want less government. Government has a terrible track record of doing anything right (except the military) I like the privatization route and getting out of the way of capitalism. Faith-based initiatives while not perfect have done a wonderful job of solving hunger, disaster recovery, etc. Government can serve as a watch dog, but that's it. I will always take a serious look at the credible candidate who does the best job of convincing me they believe in less government too. I agree with a lot of the libertarian platform but there are aspects I just can't buy into; such as drug legalization. Unfortunately, the two party system has been able to squeeze out any other possible credible candidates. Government has become a huge monopoly that has gobbled up both parties. If this Palin story of an affair turns out to be true; lights out for McCain. People such as my wife will be so fed up with the lack of character in politicians they will just stay home and watch Andy Griffith.
