The "Bubba" Factor

There was a very interesting article in USA Today about the voting habits of guys like this. Do you seriously believe these men would vote for a black man by the name of Barack Hussein Obama? Obviously no one will admit to being racist, but I really believe these boys and millions like them are not ready yet for a black President. However, I think they ARE ready to vote for a war hero and a female, gun-toting, lifetime member of the NRA. Just one man's opinion . . .

Certainly race will be a factor for a lot of people, unfortunately.

But I think there's plenty of people that are like those guys that won't let race factor in. I would consider myself on the fringe of those guys. I mean really...a war hero married to a woman who runs a beer company, with a vice president who hunts moose and loves guns...pretty tough ticket to beat.

I think they'll clean up in the South.

I wish there was a "Bubba Party." How about Larry the Cable Guy and Palin?

We've got a bubba party!!-It "was" the Republican party that was created by Bush/Rove and then self-destructed; bubba government doesn't seem to work very well. Last night was a great "American" speech by a great American! McCain left no doubt his disdain of how the Republican party has run the country for the past eight years. He became the McCain of 2000 and now has a real chance of winning by taking the independent stance and promising to work with whoever he needs to for the good of the country-not just Bubbaland. The crowd was very silent at times as he railed against Republican corruption, the big oil bill which Obama also voted for, and the partisan gridlock created by both sides. He was not speaking to the delegates but to America-which is how he will get elected. His speech has renewed my faith in him and his plan for governance. Palin(if she survives the continued vetting process) will just be his "Dan Quayle" -she can look but not touch anything important while in office. He needs her to get the bubba vote but that's all she is good for. Again, a great speech as far as doing what he needed to do to get elected.

I am in perfect agreement with your comments, Vance. (Scary). I also think you did a great job describing how the McCain/Pelin administration would look. However, I do think Pelin has a bit more "gravitas" than Quayle had and will be a major force in Republican politics in the future - a conservative Ann Richards.
