Opening Day!

Today, for me, is the first day of Spring. It's Opening Day for the Minnesota Twins! The epitome of what Twins fans hope for is best described in this excerpt from Sports Illustrated written on November 4, 1991 after the Twins defeated the Braves for the World Championship:

The truth in inelastic when comes to the 88th World Series. It is impossible to stretch. It isn't necessary to appraise the nine days just past from some distant horizon of historical perspective. Let us call this Series what it is, now, while its seven games still ring in our ears: the greatest that was ever played. Both the Twins and the Braves enlarged the game of baseball, while reducing members of both teams to humble participants in a Series with drama too huge to be hyperbolized. - Steve Rushin

In 2010, the Twins will be opening in their new stadium - without a roof. Could be a problem on a day like today. Did I mention how much this squirrel ticks me off?

I always feel like we're in the deep south when I talk to you about weather. Sunny and 60 here this evening. I think the Twins need 2 stadiums. One to play in until June 1st and then again in Sept and then another one for June thru August.
Nice squirrel feeder by the way.

That's what they make retractable roofs for - but NOOO. . . too expensive.
