BSF (Bible Study Fellowship)

A long time ago brother Mike mentioned BSF to me. He was a facilitator with BSF and I was running the Stephen Ministry at my church. To be honest, I didn't think I needed something like BSF because I was an "active member" of my church in a leadership position. What I didn't know was, I DIDN'T HAVE A CLUE! My marriage was falling apart and I never recognized it because it was not a marriage based on The Word. When my wife filed for divorce without warning after 22 years of marriage, I was devastated beyond belief. I was literally on my knees begging God for help. And He provided it - in the form of brother Mike who not only suggested BSF again, but went so far as to provide me with the meeting and contact information in my area. I joined in January and have not missed a meeting since (knock on wood). It has changed my life and I thank God ( and Mike) for that. This week's lesson - Matthew 19. It's about marriage and divorce - a tough one for me. Just a quick suggestion for those of you who are newly wed, not so newly wed, or about to be newly wed - take a little time to read Matthew 19 and talk about it together. If you find you have a problem with what's written there, then talk some more.

Thanks for the advice Uncle Rick. I'm so proud to have you as my uncle and it's so cool to watch what God has been doing in your life.

BSF has been life-changing for me too. It gives me the discipline and the structure to stay in God's Word regularly. I haven't been in 6 weeks due to the knee surgery but I have really enjoyed going over the questions with you each week. Theodore Roosevelt once said "A thorough knowledge of the Bible is more valuable than a college education."
I agree.
