I made it!

I am happy to say I survived the holidays. I think we all have expectations of what our holiday season is going to be like. Earlier this year, when I coupled those expectations with my involuntary single status, the thought of the holiday season put knots in my stomach. I really wondered if I would be able to get through it. Well, guess what. I made it. Not only that, but I don't exaggerate when I say it was one of the best holiday seasons I ever had. I spent Thanksgiving with my brother Mike and his wife Mary. Clay was with me Christmas Eve/Day and we also were together to greet 2008. The season seemed to slow down for me and enabled me to enjoy it. I thought I would be glad when the holidays were over. Instead, I'm sad they're over. That's a good thing, I think. I really believe the secret for me this year was "staying in the present". Moments I'll treasure are the conversation over Thanksgiving dinner, the "I'm Thankful for____" blogs, playing pool, waking up Christmas morning excited to play Santa for my son, taking video game lessons from Clay, IChating with Mike and Justin while watching college football and all of the nice messages and cards friends and family sent me. God bless and have a great '08!

Glad to hear it went well. The Air Force game was much more fun with you and Dad. I hope 2008 treats you better than 2007 did, and I'm sure it will.

Kacey says she's excited to meet you. I really hope you'll be able to make it down for the wedding. Clear out May 17, 2008 on your calendar.
