Totally Irresponsible

Apparently the FAA and the USAF authorized this 747 and two F16s to fly low over Lower Manhattan for a photo shoot. Unfortunately, they were the only ones who knew about this authorization. Meanwhile, in NYC, people were evacuating buildings because of the low flying aircraft. The mayor of NYC didn't know about the flyby and called the flight "totally irresponsible" for not notifying the local authorities. To me, this flight signifies the total "thick headedness" of this Administration. Did they think the people of NYC would not react to such a low flight? Oh, that's right. 9/11 happened a long time ago and we have nothing to worry about now that Obama is President. The President owes NYC an apology.

A major screwup....but actually the NYPD and the Mayor's office were informed of the upcoming flyby last Thursday. Bloomberg has officially reprimanded(wow) the underling who failed to pass the word on to him. I would not want to be the Air Force officer who coordinated all this, cleared it with the White House and then put the "classified" stamp on it and said the public was not to be told-right!! Sounds to me like this was an Air Force initiated photo shoot to "update" their files. Several years ago they did a Mount Rushmore flyby for the same purpose. They should have called it quits with that one. This whole thing ranks right up there with Abu Ghraib, Katrina, the Abramahoff scandal, unarmored Humvees, the Valerie Plame CIA outing, etc. etc....reallly big, and perhaps just one example of the tremendous incompetence which is going on behind the scenes at the White House! :-) I think I've been watching the Colbert Report too much..

I think there should be senate hearings. I want to know who knew what when. Heads should roll and BO should resign!! How about a class action suit for mental anguish? :)

I'm outraged that some poor photographer is going to lose a very cool gig because a few (albeit important) folks weren't informed....:)

You know, Vance, you're right. It IS on the same level as Abu Ghraib, Katrina, the Abramahoff scandal, unarmored Humvees, the Valerie Plame CIA outing, etc - except WORSE! Bush didn't have a direct hand in any of those things. However the "flyby" came right out of the White House. Talk about hypocritical. This goes against everything this lying Administration is supposedly standing for. How much fuel was wasted? Was this part of Obama's 100 million in government cost savings? What did this boon doggle cost the American people? How many innocent American people were inexcusably terrified that something horrific was going to happen? Photo shoot!?? Why now? I'll tell you why. This President is not an executive, he's a PR guy and uses the media at every chance he gets to lie to the American people. This was Air Force One. You better believe the President of the United States as Commander In Chief knows where his two aircraft are at all times. If he doesn't, he should. At a bare minimum, it shows terrible judgement. There's a big difference in flying a 747 low over Mt. Rushmore and flying it low over the Ground Zero. Sorry. This one REALLY pisses me off.

Hey Rick, go easy on BO. He said it was a mistake and that it wouldn't happen again. Isn't that as good as an apology?

I guess Bush was not COMMANDER-In-Chief(Abu-Graib/military, humvees/military), but now, through some new quirk of the Constitution, Obama has assumed that mantle.

Get real. Do you honestly think the manufacturers of Humvees sought Bush's advice? Do you honestly think the Army National guard idiots sought Bush's advice on how to abuse their prisoners at Abu Ghraib? Do you think the White House staff advised Obama on where HIS aircraft would be the morning of April 27th? You better believe they did. It's a national security priority and is required by the Secret Service. If Obama didn't know about the photo shoot, then he's even more incompetent than I imagined.

Why is it when Obama is criticized, liberals, rather than giving a rational reason for his actions, respond with examples of Bush's screw ups? I thought Obama was an agent of change. Doesn't appear so, does it?
