Michelle waits for no man!

The Stimulus Bill be damned! Michelle wanted to strut her stuff in the Windy City and Barry Baby can just wait until next week to sign the URGENT, need to get this done immediately, save the country, bill signed. Let's get our "priorities" straight. There's stimulus and then there's stimulus, especially on the Valentine's Weekend.

Thanks to Justin for providing this article.

After pushing Congress for weeks to hurry up and pass the massive $787 billion stimulus bill, President Obama promptly took off for a three-day holiday getaway.

Obama arrived at his home in Chicago on Friday, and treated wife Michelle to a Valentine's Day dinner downtown last night. The couple was spotted leaving upscale Table Fifty-Two, which specializes in Southern cuisine, with the first lady toting what appeared to be a doggie bag.

The president plans to spend the Presidents' Day weekend in the Windy City, and is not expected to sign the bill until Tuesday, when he travels to Denver to discuss his economic plan.

Both the House and Senate passed the bill Friday night.

The push to get the bill through before the holiday weekend was so frantic, members of Congress didn't have a chance to read all 1,071 pages of the document before they could vote.

"In a perfect world it would have been nice to have had more time to process it," said Ilan Kayatsky, a spokesman for Rep. Jerrold Nadler (D-NY).

There is no part about this whole deal that doesn't stink. The Democrats are literally out of control.

I can't figure out how the Washington Post managed to read, summarize, and print the whole bill in a three page special in less than 24 hrs. after receiving a copy....I guess a staff of 30 or so for each Repub. congressman is less productive than about five Post reporters(maybe it's just because the news crew is literate).
I'll be traveling for about a week very shortly-you guys are going to miss me and my hand grenades!! Just trying to give the blog some balance-nothing personal!!

1st page - SPEND!
2nd page - BORROW TO SPEND MORE!
3rd page - BORROW TO SPEND EVEN MORE!

That's about all the Dems can handle. Just ask Obama for a full accounting of his campaign. Can't do it because it has to do with Debits, Credits, etc. Too complicated for the intellectual elite.

Needless to say, I am having an Obamasm watching these Rep. Governors squirm over taking the stimulus money. Pawlenty was really squirming last night on MSNBC but in the end said he would "probably" accept it! Where are your principals guv?? Almost better is reading the press releases to constituents of the Rep. congresman touting the benefits of parts of the bill they like(the one they voted against!). Priceless:

BATON ROUGE, La. — A handful of Republican governors are considering turning down some money from the federal stimulus package, a move opponents say puts conservative ideology ahead of the needs of constituents struggling with record foreclosures and soaring unemployment.

Though none has outright rejected the money available for education, health care and infrastructure, the governors of Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana, Alaska, South Carolina and Idaho have all questioned whether the $787 billion bill signed into law this week will even help the economy.

"My concern is there's going to be commitments attached to it that are a mile long," said Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who considered rejecting some of the money but decided Wednesday to accept it. "We need the freedom to pick and choose. And we need the freedom to say 'No thanks.'"

U.S. Rep. James Clyburn, D-S.C., the No. 3 House Democrat, said the governors _ some of whom are said to be eyeing White House bids in 2012 _ are putting their own interests first.

"No community or constituent should be denied recovery assistance due to their governor's political ideology or political aspirations," Clyburn said Wednesday.

In fact, governors who reject some of the stimulus aid may find themselves overridden by their own legislatures because of language Clyburn included in the bill that allows lawmakers to accept the federal money even if their governors object.
