Civil Rights Day
They did away with Lincoln's Birthday as a day to celebrate. They did away with Washington's Birthday as a day to celebrate. Then they combined them and made it President's Day. But, it's okay to have a day celebrating Martin Luther KIng's birthday. In my opinion, George Washington and Abraham Lincoln did more for our country than Martin Luther King. That doesn't mean that Dr. King's accomplishments in the area of civil rights were not significant. However, he was not the only person involved in the civil rights movement and he may not have succeeded without the risks taken by those like Rosie Parks, etc. So instead of just celebrating the birthday of one leader, why not celebrate the entire movement on "Civil Rights Day"?
